TNT said that it gained the “Asia Pacific Express Logistics Excellence” award in recognition of its efforts in raising the bar of end-to-end supply chain and logistics standards in the Asia Pacific region. In particular, it recognised TNT’s success in increasing service levels, reducing costs and maximising lead times for its customers; offering a comprehensive end-to-end suite of solutions to customers; and spearheading logistics innovation.

Onno Boots, regional managing director, TNT Southeast Asia, said: “The award is the best recognition of our efforts to establish a leadership position for TNT in this region as we continue to invest and grow our resources here. It also reaffirms our commitment to enhance our extensive air and road networks in the region, to continually offer multi-modal solutions that best answer our customers’ unique needs. With the current global economic climate, such efficient supply chain management is especially critical. We dedicate this award to all our employees in the region who have worked tirelessly to further enhance our offering to customers.”

TNT noted that it is investing €100 million over five years in Asia to enhance its network coverage, connectivity, infrastructure and customer products and services. TNT has re-routed a dedicated Boeing 747-400ERF aircraft to stop three times a week in Singapore, en route to Shanghai, China, from its air hub in Liege, Belgium. With the freighter services, TNT can leverage the soaring demand for freight express services between Southeast Asia, China and Europe and build a leadership position in domestic, intra-regional and selected intercontinental express flows in the emerging Asian market, particularly in the healthcare, high-tech and equipment and machinery sectors.

In addition, it has built up its Asia Road Network for regional overland transportation to link over 125 cities in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and China. Other measures include an enhanced Customer Contact Centre opened in July 2008 and the introduction of several RFID-based solutions, including its RFID-ready Life Sciences Express Hub in Singapore, its largest dedicated life science facility in the world.
